Part of our wider work to create a more inclusive sector
The Benevolent Fund will provide free places at Museums Association (MA) events to individual members who face barriers due to ethnicity, disability, socio-economic background, and gender identity or sexual orientation (LGBTQ).

The fund will offer 100 free places, shared across different MA events as part of our efforts to create a more inclusive sector.

Ten places will be available for each one-day conference as well as both Don’t Stop Me Now and Moving on Up.

Twenty places will be available for the MA Conference and Exhibition.

Individual members can apply to be eligible for a free place by completing an online form and a brief statement outlining how they meet the criteria and why they would benefit from attending the event.

We are passionate about delivering diversity and equality and recognise there is still more work to do in challenging barriers to entering and progressing in the museum sector.

As well as providing inclusive places at MA events, the Benevolent Fund offers grants to alleviate financial distress and to support the professional development of MA members.

The inclusive places initiative launched in Autumn 2019, with 20 free places offered to attend the MA conference in Brighton. Since then, 10 places have been provided to attend All Inclusive: Championing Accessible Museums on 12 December.

Applications are now open for future events. You can apply using the online inclusive place request form. Please note, the free places are only available to individual members of the MA.
