Museums Association One-Day Conference

There are nearly 14 million disabled people living in the UK, but many museums continue to struggle to welcome them as visitors, volunteers and members of the workforce.

What can be done to address disabled access, participation and representation? How can individuals and organisations embed inclusive practice.

Through a series of practical talks as well as interactive discussion, debate and exchange, this one-day conference explores how museums can become truly inclusive spaces and representational platforms, and champion equality at every level.

This event is for anyone who is working towards diversity and inclusion at a museum or relevant organisation.

Speakers include:

  • Frances Ryan, Guardian Journalist and Author, Crippled: Austerity and the Demonisation of Disabled People
  • Jocelyn Dodd, Co-Director, the Research Centre for Museums and Galleries at the University of Leicester
  • Richard Jones, Founder and Principle Consultant, Accessible Wales
  • Vicky Hope-Walker, Chief Executive Officer, National Paralympic Heritage Trust
  • Elinor Morgan, Senior Curator, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art
  • Zoe Partington, Cultural Consultant
